Nothing says New Years like gold metallics and sparkles! Every New Years Eve I plan on getting something as festive as possible, but’s it’s imperative to me that I find the perfect look that is going to be comfortable enough to hold me through the night of eating and drinking all of the drinks.
I adore this Stevie May dress because it pretty much checks all my boxes! This New Years dress is easy to throw on with tights (if you aren’t in Texas and it just so happens to be in the 70’s on NYE) and a leather jacket or big fluffy faux fur coat, this dress makes for a great look anywhere one my find herself on this fabulous holiday event… even if it’s just at home!
I always plan a New Years Eve look, but in reality, when it comes down to it, I almost never end up doing anything on NYE other than sitting on my couch drinking a glass of red wine.
This year I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a couple of days with one of my dearest friends and her little girl. I can’t imagine having spent the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018 being any more special than watching Sarah and Duck with MK and Holland (precious 2 year old babe!) while snuggling in front of a fire on a cold Texas night. As I get older it’s so much more important to me to be able to share these moments with people I love and cherish rather than just going out to be seen in a cute dress and get drunk. I’m very proud to say that this is the 3rd year in a row that I’ve not been hungover on New Years Day. Hollllla!!
I haven’t really had the chance to really settle in to Dallas yet, but one of my favorite things about it so far is the ability to get places a lot quicker than I could from Austin. Is that terrible? Ha!
Getting to see my friend MK in East Texas is so much easier now that I’m only two hours away (instead of the 4.5 from ATX)… and flights from DFW and Love Field are way cheap and nonstop to almost anywhere. Therefore, I’m going to make a point to take 36-48 hour trips every month or so and focus in on exploring the United States more in 2018 rather than hopping on a plane to the EU any chance I get 😉
Got a little off track there, (what’s new?!) but reflecting on 2017, I could not possibly be more grateful for the people who have been placed in my life, the opportunities I’ve had, and the growth I’ve gone through. Yes, I want to save (and make) more money this year, get back in shape, and do a little self-work, but truly I couldn’t be happier with the way things are. It’s a weird feeling, but I’ve just developed the ability to be content with where I am. I’m trying not to put focus on where I think I should be or compare myself to others and their lives. Maybe its a “thirty” thang.. but it’s such a refreshing feeling.
Here’s to 2018!!
